It’s Up to You!

Updated: Sep 13, 2021

We know how important good nutrition and exercise is for our health. But, have you ever stopped to think about what you feed your mind every minute of every day? Your mental diet is just as, if not more, important for your overall health, wellness and spiritual growth as the right nutrition is for your body.

What you THINK and FEEL either positively or negatively affects your mental and physical health. Our global mental diet - radio, TV, newspapers, social media, movies - is having catastrophic effects on our overall well-being, individually and collectively. What you consume minute by minute, every day, affects your thinking and feelings, it pervades your conversations, your quiet time and invades your sleep.

The negative mental diet we consume daily creates a miasma of darkness and negativity that surrounds us and affects everyone and everything we come in contact with. If you want to change your life, you need to change your thoughts, change your words arising from those thoughts, change your actions arising from those thoughts. What is in your mind will create all your experiences in your life. If your thoughts are one of negativity, they will create your unhappiness, sickness, poverty, and despair.

One way to start this transformation is to change your mental diet. Pay attention to what you expose your consciousness to, and begin to make choices about what you view, read, listen to and talk about. You don’t need to stick your head in the sand about what is going on in the world around you, but don’t make it your primary focus in your life. Like anything we consume, moderation is the key. Keep your mental food clean and nutritious. Keep your thinking positive. Try to practice non-criticism and non-judgementalism for these are destructive of others and eventually, you will find similar patterns or experiences returning to you, likely with interest.
